Zedfactory have developed a zero carbon / climate neutral supply chain. The overall objective is to produce new buildings and urban infrastructure that make no net contribution to accelerating climatic change over the buildings expected lifespan.
The idea is to create a vibrant / active community with opportunities for key workers to mix, socialize and exercise safely and in house.
Two stacked accommodation blocks are placed with a central atrium that can be glazed or unglazed dependent on climate.
At the top of the northernmost building block large ETFE foil clad rooflights house reversible Solar cool external heat pump units that discharge hot air at the highest point without contaminating fresh air intakes to the heat recovery ventilation system.
Enable fresh air sourced from rooftop level to be circulated to all rooms and extracted using atrium solar chimney to minimise or eliminate the need for mechanical fan power
